Paint Hope on a Heart with a story.

READ A BOOK

My bible study, Think Outside the Pit, and devotional combo can take you on a journey to discover how to trust God for life’s pit moments, persevere, and make a difference no matter if your life unravels or unhinges.

My two latest children’s books, Cranky Camel and the Candy Cane Caper and Cranky, the Camel and Max Go To School, take you on adventures where the unexpected abounds, and camels can be your friend.

My young reader, The Mystery of Sneaky Pants, will take your middle schooler on adventures where the lost get found, where Emma Hobbit and her two best friends create chaos along the way, and invite you to their ever-changing world.

My novel, Summertime Sprinkler, will remind Beth Bender to speak life as she confronts her past. The biggest climb to victory may come with the longest walk for Beth. The haunting tragedy from twenty years ago will rise to the front as a new neighbor invades not only Beth’s heart but he will trespass onto her property.

My novel, Looking for Daddy’s Girl, is close to my heart. It’s a search for purpose, love, and acceptance; sometimes, the hero lives within the lost and lonely person. Maybe you can become a hero in your community, too. Then, read the companion devotional to see what life lessons you missed while reading the novel.

My novel, Rescue at Three Sisters Springs, takes you to Hot Springs, Arkansas, where a dreamer, a runaway, and a poet connect to rescue a toddler. This book is for anyone who dreams or has run away from life and for anyone who longs for a song in the day. Let the characters in this novel rescue you.

(On a side note: Three Sisters Springs is a real place north of Hot Springs, Arkansas. While researching this novel, I discovered my family secret: I had an adoptive sister I’d never met. She grew up in Hot Springs, and I attended school and went to church with her as a girl. This novel is for her.)

The Annie Grace Kree Chronicles go in this order: Untied Shoelace, Unknown Soul, Rescue of Undaunted Spirit,  Unwanted Sidekick, and Unwavering Hope. And the last one, which can be read as a standalone, is Unshackled Courage. Will Annie Grace solve the cold case of the Phantom Killer?

(In 1981, my best friend, Manuela Witthuhn, was murdered by a serial killer, the Golden State Killer. When I discovered the unsolved cold case from 1946 in Texarkana, Texas, I took in the history of the murders with an odd curiosity that seemed strange to some of my friends. I then created the fictional world with Annie Grace Kree, where the Texarkana case gets solved. Yes, the Phantom Killer is caught by the end of book six. And by the end of my writing the series, the Golden State Killer was also seen in real life. The journey of writing these books was a healing for my heart for sure. It was a strange journey. A wonderful one, to say the least.)

A View from the Heart. My View from the Bridge and My View from the Street are stories from street ministry.

Things I Learned In Jail and From Court to Christ are from serving in a rehab/recovery center where 100 ladies reside—stories of hope for the heart.

(I served at the recovery center for almost 12 years until the pandemic hit in 2020 when all volunteers were sent away. Not holding a church service on Sunday mornings with my ladies was hard to digest, and I still miss them each weekend.)

See You in the Funny Paper and A Scoop of Inspiration are fun/lighthearted devotionals.

(I tend to do crazy and chaotic things during the day. Not on purpose. It just seems to happen.)

My other children’s books are In the Lick of Time, A Goat with a Tote, and Hattie Holmes Holds Her Breath, a picture book where kindness is always great. And yes, Hattie and Mattie! Oh, They Love the Bunny! It is great for Easter, too.

(Picture books take me to my childhood, where fun wins and stories become a part of our hearts.)
